First Year Novices

Shane L. Mulligan Shane, 19, was born and raised in St. Louis, the third of six children. He is a graduate of St. Louis University High School and attended Saint Louis University for one year. In high school, he was chosen as a President’s Ambassador and was captain of the cross-country team. Strong influences in his life were his grade school pastor, his Jesuit spiritual director, and seeing Pope John-Paul II during his visit to St. Louis. He speaks Spanish and loves playing the piano. |

Sean M. Powers Sean, 21, grew up in Ballwin, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. He graduated from St. Louis University High School (SLUH) and attended Creighton University for two years. Each year in high school he helped lead a retreat for the 8th grade students from his parish and was a counselor at a Boy Scout camp each summer. At Creighton University he was heavily involved in campus ministry, the Center for Service and Justice, the Cortina Community. He also coordinated service trips during spring breaks and tutored English as a second language. His hobbies include working out, playing guitar and camping. |

Joseph D. Wotawa Joe, 20, has lived in St. Louis all his life. He learned to read Latin before graduating from St. Louis University High School in 2006 and began studying Russian during the year he attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. He has made many student retreats and found the Newman Center at Truman State supportive with its program for men’s spirituality, interfaith conversations and service projects. His greatest joy came from playing in his own rock band through his last three years of high school. |
Second Year Novices

Tim Kieras Tim, 21, is a graduate of Huron High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He has just completed his sophomore year at Saint Louis University. He was involved in scouting (rank of Eagle Scout) and plays the bassoon and bass drum. During his two years at SLU he was an active member in both the Micah House Service Program and the Theology Club. Tim also received a liturgy internship through the VOICES Program and the Center for Liturgy at Saint Louis University. |

Stephen A. Kramer Stephen, 30, from St. Louis, Missouri, is a graduate of St. Louis University High School (1996) and has attended Saint Louis University and Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. He has worked at De Smet Jesuit High School as a wrestling coach. Stephen enjoys hockey, playing poker and chess with friends, and spending time with his large family. To relax, he likes to read and work out. |

Winston C. Mina Winston, 43, was born in the Philippines. He received his medical degree from the University of the Philippines (Manila). At Emory University he served as a Fellow in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology. Most recently he has been an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and Staff Physician at the University of Missouri and the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was active in his parish and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his “free time,” he keeps involved with the Filipino community. |
