Volunteer Opportunities

The Society of Jesus acknowledges as a grace of our day and a hope for the future that laity ‘take an active, conscientious, and responsible part in the mission of the Church in this great moment of history.’ We seek to respond to this grace by offering ourselves in service to the full realization of this mission of the laity, and we commit ourselves to that end by cooperating with them in their mission.

The Missouri Province proudly sponsors the following service organizations:

Alum Service Corps
Founded by the Jesuits of the Missouri Province in 1991, the Alum Service Corps (ASC) offers a way for graduates of Jesuit high schools to give back a year of service in gratitude for their Jesuit education. The ASC helps volunteers reflect on their experiences in service by introducing basic tenets of Ignatian spirituality throughout the year.

ASC volunteers serve as teachers, coaches, bus drivers, retreat leaders, mentors, computer technicians, and more. The program is known for fostering close relationships between the volunteers and their school's Jesuit community. Graduates of Jesuit high schools who desire a service experience in the Jesuit tradition are encouraged to apply.

Ignatian Volunteer Corps: St. Louis
Your most important work might begin after retirement. The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) invites women and men over fifty to work two days a week in direct service to the poor. Volunteers gather monthly for prayer, reflection on their service, and conversation on a book read in common. IVC volunteers regularly meet one-on-one with a spiritual director and enjoy retreats and social gatherings throughout the year. The St. Louis IVC community admits new volunteers in September and January.  

Jesuit Volunteer Corps: Midwest
Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) places volunteers in St. Louis and throughout the Midwest region in direct service to the poor. Sponsored by the four Midwest Jesuit Provinces, Jesuit volunteers focus on simple living, community, spirituality and social justice. JVC: Midwest is known for placing volunteers in healthcare organizations in service to the poor.
