Alum Service Corps XVIII
09 Jul 2008
by: Sean Agniel, Provincial Assistant for Social Ministries and Director of the Alum Service Corps

The Alum Service Corps is happy to announce the volunteers of ASC XVIII. For the 2008-09 academic year these 11 recent college graduates, all alumni of Missouri Province high schools, will teach English, Latin, Psychology, World History, Biology, Theology, Computer Science, and Spanish. ASC volunteers respond to the various needs of their assigned school throughout the year as they experiment with the Christ-like generosity exemplified by the life of St. Ignatius. Their year of service begins with an orientation July 18 to 31, culminating in a day long celebration of the feast of St. Ignatius, July 31.
Please pray for the volunteers of ASC XVIII as they contribute to the Ignatian character of our schools through their commitment to spirituality and service in the Jesuit tradition. Serving at St. Louis U. High

Founded by Jesuits of the Missouri Province in 1991, the Alum Service Corps (ASC) offers a way for graduates of Jesuit high schools to give back a year of service in gratitude for their Jesuit education. Volunteers are placed as faculty members in the five Missouri Province high schools in Denver, Kansas City or St. Louis.
ASC volunteers serve as teachers, coaches, bus drivers, retreat leaders, mentors, computer technicians, club moderators and more. The program is known for fostering close relationships between the volunteers and their school’s Jesuit community. Alumni of Jesuit high schools between the ages of 21-28 who desire a service experience in the Jesuit tradition are encouraged to apply.
